QSC Loudspeakers and Amplifiers Elevate the Audio Experience at City Social London
Located in Tower 42 in the heart of London, City Social is a modern, Michelin star restaurant founded by chef Jason Atherton. From its spot on the 24th floor, the venue offers spectacular views across the city and serves the best of British cuisine in an art-deco environment. In addition to the main dining room are three private dining rooms and a separate bar, known as Social 24, which plays host to well-attended DJ nights. The restaurant was looking to solve a number of issues, such as uneven sound coverage, brought on by the previous sound system. To handle the task, they chose to upgrade to QSC loudspeakers and amplifiers throughout the venue.
The restaurant’s management team consulted with integrators Excite AV and the team at Audiologic to help determine a practical way to overcome some of the issues with their previous sound system. A mix of QSC AcousticDesign Series ceiling-mount and surface-mount loudspeakers were deployed throughout the venue. These loudspeakers feature Directivity Matched Transition™ (DMT), a QSC developed technology that ensures a smooth, uniform frequency response over the coverage area. This means that patrons won’t notice any sort of audio transition as they move around the venue.
The loudspeakers are powered by QSC CXD4.2 processing amplifiers. These four-channel amplifiers offer a full-featured, onboard DSP with crossover and parametric EQ filters, limiting and alignment delay that eliminate the need for additional loudspeaker processors. The CXD Series enabled the integrator to easily fine tune the system to deliver the optimal sonic experience in the restaurant.
“There are essentially two environments we needed to support – a higher energy bar area and a more relaxed dining room area,” explains Tim Smith, General Manager at City Social. “The new system offers a more dynamic experience, and ensures patrons are never overwhelmed by the audio system. The whole team here has been very happy with the QSC system.”
