Q-SYS Designer Software:  Support Policy

Q-SYS strives to bring new software solutions and features updates to better service our customers. To maximize business performance, you are encouraged to transition your systems to either the latest Q-SYS Designer Software release or the latest long-term support release.

Q-SYS will provide technical support on the most recent prior release of Q-SYS Designer Software (annotated as “End of Life – Supported”) for a period up to twelve (12) months. During this support period, Q-SYS will deliver a commercially reasonable effort to assist our customers experiencing problems with a system. After the twelve (12) months period, the prior software version will no longer be supported by Q-SYS.

Featured Updates

  • Loudspeaker Status is "OK" when the Amplifier has no Connections to Anything in the Design. Issue: When you have loudspeakers connected to an amplifier in a Q-SYS design and the inputs to the amplifier have no connections in the design, the loudspeaker Status reports "OK".
  • This issue is fixed.
  • I/O Input Card Meters do not Work When There is no DSP Wired to the I/O Input Component in the Design.
  • Issue: If you have an I/O Input card (AES3, CobraNet, Mic/Line In) installed in an I/O Frame, with an audio source connected to the inputs of the card, but nothing connected to the outputs in the design, the meters in the Control Panel of the I/O Input card, do not work. All the other functions appear to work, for example Phantom Power. This situation gives the impression that the input source is not working.
  • This issue is fixed.

  • Issue: When using the Bookmark feature in a UCI, with the Show Full Screen option checked, the screen displays in full screen, and in Touchscreen Control Mode even though Touchscreen Control Mode was not checked when the Bookmark was saved. In addition, when only the Touchscreen Control Mode was checked, the UCI did not display in Touchscreen Control Mode.
    This issue is Fixed.

  • Issue: When the UCI has been running for 60 seconds, the screen displays a blank white page.
Workaround: Make sure you configure the AUX ports, on the backup Core, properly.

  • Issue: On very large, redundant systems, Q-SYS occasionally dropped a flurry of packets on all output streams, on the active Q-LAN network (usually LAN-A). This problem happened on redundant Core design when the active Core would update the backup Core (every 10 minutes) with the Global Snapshot, Page Configuration Info, and the Admin Log File. If the design is very large and the paging configuration extensive and very busy, along with other events, this periodic data-transfer between the Cores could cause intermittent Q-LAN packet drops.
This issue is mitigated to an unnoticeable level. The issue will be fixed in release 2.2.

  • Issue: When upgrading to 2.1, if your Core is password protected, an error would display during the media backup process.
    This issue is Fixed.

  • Issue: Cannot update firmware to 2.1 on a password-protected Core.
    This issue is Fixed

  • Issue: Cannot deploy UCIs to a password-protected TSC-8.
    This issue is Fixed

  • Issue: Cannot deploy firmware to password-protected TSC-8.
Workaround: Remove the password from any TSC-8 you plan to update to the latest 2.1 release. After updating the TSC-8, add the password protectio

Featured Updates

  • PA Router – When the product of PA Zones * BGM Inputs is greater than 4K (64*64), the BGM source select crosspoint buttons were not functional. The crosspoint buttons are functional up to the maximum PA Zones * BGM Inputs (256 * 64), or 16K.
  • DAB-801 with Redundant I/O Frames – Q-SYS Designer occasionally misidentifies an amplifier when the system is switching between redundant I/O Frames with the DAB-801 Automatic Mode button OFF, and a Manual Backup Engage Button ON.
  • DAB-801 with Redundant I/O Frames A 4-Channel Amplifier would occasionally lose Channels 3 and 4 when switching between redundant I/O Frames with the DAB-801 Automatic Mode button OFF, and a Manual Backup Engage Button ON
  • Uploading Large Audio Files – Occasionally when you try to upload a large audio file to the Core, the process will stop without uploading the file or giving an indication that the process stopped, other than the progress bar is not moving.
  • Preview Audio Files in Sub-directories – If you create a sub-directory under either the Messages or Preambles directories in the Audio Files tab, upload either .wav or .mp3 files into those sub-directories, and then attempt to preview one of those files by clicking the play button next to the file, no audio is produced.
  • Access Audio Files in Sub-directories – If you create a sub-directory under either the Messages or Preambles directories in the Audio Files tab, and upload either .wav or .mp3 files into those sub-directories, then attempt to use those files in any commands, the files do not display in the list of available files.

Featured Updates

  • When a Q-SYS design contained at least one I/O Frame fully loaded with AES cards, and all channels on the AES cards are used, the LCD on that I/O Frame, and Configurator display for that I/O Frame may have become sluggish. In addition, this situation could have resulted in the inability to update Q-SYS Designer versions.
  • Under some conditions, the Audio Player may have experienced audio dropouts.
  • A memory leak in the Audio Player may have resulted in a Q-SYS design fault/restart, or various other problems. Using a greater number of Audio Players, playing for a longer period of time caused the fault to occur sooner.
  • In Q-SYS Administrator, Scheduled Event – Advanced Settings features were not working.

Featured Updates

  • In a Q-SYS system with multiple Cores, running different designs, on the same PTP clock domain, an audio engine restart on the Core with clock mastership could invoke a state where audio streams would drop for an extended period while the Q-SYS components within the clock domain attempted to resynchronize to the clock master.
  • Under some circumstances, when there is a large amount of network traffic, Q-SYS would periodically drop audio packets. This issue is resolved.
  • In locales using commas for numeric dividers (German, for example), the UCI panel would not display when it was clicked in the discovery list. Now, the UCI panels display in locales other than the United States.

Featured Updates

  • An eight-channel amplifier connected to two DataPort cards occasionally caused Q-SYS Designer to detect only the first two channels of the amplifier. This issue is now resolved.
  • A Core 1000 requires a minimum of 2 GB of RAM to run a Q-SYS Design with a Page Router in the design. Now, a Save to Core & Run fails, with an error message indicating the problem, if there is a Page Router in the design and the Core 1000 has less than 2 GB of RAM.
  • The Pilot Tone level (Loudspeaker Component) was too low to get an accurate reading of impedance for some combinations of amplifiers and loudspeakers. The Pilot Tone level was increased to improve performance.
  • A Page Station, without a numeric keypad, displayed the message "Logon Required" prior to configuration in the Q-SYS Administrator. This no longer occurs.
  • The Custom FIR Filter now works in Multi-Channel mode.
  • You can now save the Custom FIR Filter in a Snapshot.
  • The Low-Pass and High-Pass FIR filters now work in Multi-Channel mode.
  • The Audio File Player has three linked fields to specify the file to play: Root, Directory, and File. Previously, if the directory or file specified by any of these fields does not exist, Q-SYS clears that field, and those below it. Under some circumstances, the Root, Directory and/or File fields in the Audio File Player lose their settings. Now the field, and those below it, are not cleared, but turn red to indicate the situation.
