Q-SYS Designer Software: Support Policy
QSC strives to bring new software solutions and feature updates to better service our customers. To maximize business performance, you are encouraged to transition systems to the latest Q-SYS Designer Software release.
To ease the transition period from the most recent prior to the current version, QSC will provide technical support, on a best-effort basis, on the most recent prior release of Q-SYS Designer Software (annotated as “End of Life – Supported”) for a period up to twelve (12) months. After twelve months, the prior software version will no longer be supported by QSC.
Version 9
Support for Q-SYS NV-21-HU Network Video Endpoint
Introducing the next evolution for native Q-SYS video distribution. The NV-21-HU is a software configurable endpoint offering a comprehensive single-cable solution for video distribution, AV bridging, and device charging via USB-C. For a limited time only, the AV Bridging feature license will be included with the purchase of each NV-21-HU (until the release of Q-SYS Designer Software v9.10).
- Distribute video formats up to 4K60 4:4:4 without compromising quality, bandwidth, and latency
- Expand functionality with the AV Bridging feature license to integrate Q-SYS camera/audio feeds into the connected collaboration application
- Easily configure the NV-21-HU to an encoder or decoder via Q-SYS Designer Software and operate in either HDMI or USB-C mode
NV-21-HU Temporary Software Limitations
SPA-Q Series Standalone Mode
When the unexpected occurs to your network and the connection to the Q-SYS Core is lost, ensure your SPA-Q Series network amplifier can still pass audio to a loudspeaker from a connected analog input signal.
Peripheral Mode
Deploy the Core 110f, Core 8 Flex and Core Nano as an I/O peripheral and take advantage of all onboard I/O, including AV bridging, external USB audio device hosting and third-party device control ports. In addition, it supports network redundancy in I/O mode to ensure maximum uptime for connected peripherals.
Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager
- Improved Alerts & Notifications: New filters enable support staff to determine which system notifications they receive, delivering a more customized user experience.
- Store up to 50 MB of Files and/or Notes (per system): Add files such as system diagrams, room layouts, or images to the Reflect Cloud to provide quick access for on-site technicians or staff that need to troubleshoot or assist users with system operation.
- Support for Single Sign-On Authentication: Ensure Enterprise Manager can adhere to your organization's password policies.
- Add User Access Control to your Presets: Apply username and password to all your connected Q-SYS systems instead of one at a time.
Q-SYS Designer Software v9.9 Coming Soon
As part of our commitment to better transparency around firmware upgrades, we want to give a sneak peek of the soon-to-be-released Q-SYS Designer Software v9.9 update!
Includes:
- Scaling & Feature Licenses such as the NV-32-H Core Mode Streaming Feature License, Core 610 Scaling License, and the 256 x 256 Software-based Dante License for Core 610
- Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager enhancements like Design File Backup & Restore
- And much more!
1. No direct audio support for DisplayPort alt-mode (USB-C Video Path):
NV-21-HU can send audio through two paths of the USB-C connection; the first method is the USB 3.0 path; this is how the 2x2 Soundcard and 1x1 Speakerphone are routed for AV Bridging (AV bridging license required). The second method is through the “DisplayPort alt-mode path,” where the video is routed. In Q-SYS Designer Software v9.8.1, there is no audio support through the DisplayPort alt-mode path in. (This will be resolved in an upcoming software release.)

For the time being, use the USB Soundcard to pass audio in DisplayPort alt-mode. This method will require activating an AV Bridging feature license for each NV-21-HU that requires this functionality (see diagram below).

2. AV Bridging Maximum Resolution: The NV-21-HU video bridge will present a maximum resolution of 720p30 YUY2 to a connected computer/UC application. This will not limit its compatibility with any applications.
3. AV Bridging in Decoder Mode: To support AV Bridging, when the NV-21-HU is in Decoder Mode, incoming AV streams should be limited to a maximum resolution of 1080p.
4. AV Bridging in Encoder Mode: To support AV Bridging, when the NV-21-HU is set in Encoder mode, AND the local HDMI output is needed, the video source input (HDMI or USB-C) cannot exceed a maximum resolution of 1080p. The video source input (HDMI or USB-C) can support up to 4K60 if the local HDMI output is not needed.

New Product Support
- Start incorporating these new Q-SYS Products into your designs:
- Core 610 network I/O COTS processor
- Core 110f v2 network + analog I/O processor
- AD-C6T-HP & AD-C6T-HC ceiling-mount loudspeakers for challenging spaces

Q-SYS Audio
- New Disable PowerSave control on the CX-Q, CXD-Q, and DPA-Q Amp Output components lets you prevent amplifiers from going into PowerSave mode.
Users using Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series or similar switches that don't support 10Mbps are not recommended to upgrade Q-SYS Designer Software and Core firmware to 9.4.4 or above (9.5 and 9.6). We have discovered an issue with Q-SYS TSC Series Gen 1 and Gen 2 touch panels running 9.4.4 or above while having the LAN port connected to a network switch port which does not support 10 Mbps. Q-SYS TSC Series Gen 1 or Gen 2 touchscreen controllers connected in this way may become inoperable and require a connection to a 10 Mbps switch in order to downgrade firmware to a previous version and become functional again.
New Products
- Incorporate new Q-SYS Products in your designs:
- Q-SYS Scaling licenses for Core Nano & Core 8 Flex: Scale targeted feature sets to better accommodate needs of specific applications and use cases. Learn more about the Q-SYS Collaboration Bundle scaling license and Q-SYS Commercial AV Bundle scaling license.
Q-SYS Video
- Live Video Preview on Q-SYS User Control Interfaces: Display realtime Q-SYS Mediacast streams from Q-SYS cameras on Q-SYS TSC Series Gen 3 touch screens and the Windows-based UCI Viewer application at up to 30 fps. Vast improvement from previous capabilities (1 fps for cameras, no network video endpoint preview support)
- Adjust TTL Controls for Video Streams in Q-SYS Core Manager: Allows for customization of the ‘Time-to-Live’ value for multicast camera and video endpoint streams.
- Improved Image quality for NC Series: New default values for Q-SYS NC Series cameras improve image quality across a variety of lighting settings.
- Improvements to AV Bridging Auto Privacy
Q-SYS Control
- New CSS Render Styles: allow for more sophisticated customization of user control interface (UCI) controls. This feature allows for individual styling of each element of more complex controls, such as setting the background color and indicator color of meters based on how a user is interacting with it.
- New Multi-State Trigger Control Type: allows for more advanced buttons that change their appearance and functionality based on the programmatic state of the control. This allows for more unique states in a single control that go well beyond what a typical trigger or toggle button can offer.
- Runtime SVG generation: New LUA library enables programmers to draw runtime SVG graphics and display on a Q-SYS touch screen controller. This can enable a number of applications, such as visually monitoring WAV forms from live audio feeds.
